This archive is a comprehensive and fully-searchable database of British historical portraiture. You can search or browse the archive by artist, from Gainsborough to Van Dyck, by sitter, such as Churchill or Nelson, or by keyword and period, such as Tudor, Jacobean and Georgian.

Over the last twenty years Philip Mould has handled some of the most significant and remarkable examples of British portraiture from the sixteenth century to the present day, and we are pleased to make this resource available to scholars, academic publishers and the general public.
