Aubry was one of the most celebrated miniaturists of the first quarter of the nineteenth century. Taught by the painter Louis-Jean-Jacques Durameau (1733-1796) and the miniaturists François-André Vincent (1746-1816) and Jean-Baptiste Isabey (1767-1855), his works are of remarkable quality, with clear, bright colouration and precise rendering of textures.
